2. How do I get there?

Perth is located about an hour south west of Ottawa, 4 hours north east of Toronto, a bit more than 3 hours west of Montreal, and less than two hours north of Ogdensburg, New York and the Canada/US border.

From Ottawa International Airport: Travel North on the Airport Parkway for 10 minutes, which turns into Bronson. Go west on Hwy 417 (The Queensway) until you get to exit ramp 145 towards Carleton Place via Hwy 7. Follow 7 westbound until you reach Perth. At the second set of lights, turn left onto Wilson Street. At the fourth set of lights you will be at the intersection of Peter and Wilson. Be aware that Peter St. runs to the right, and Foster St. to the left. We are in the Perkin's building to your immediate right. 

From Toronto: Travel East on Hwy 401 to Bellville. At exit 544, take Hwy 37 north towards Tweed. Continue on 37 until you reach Hwy 7, then turn right and follow 7 east until you reach Perth. At the third set of lights in Perth, turn right onto Wilson Street. Follow Wilson St. to the fourth set of lights at Peter Street. Be aware that Peter St. runs to the right, and Foster St. to the left. The Perkin's Building is on your immediate right at the intersection.

From Montreal: Travel West on Hwy 40 into Ontario. Hwy 40 becomes Hwy 417W. Continue on Hwy 417W to Ottawa, go straight through Ottawa, take exit 145 onto Hwy 7 west towards Carleton Place. Continue westbound on Hyw 7 to Perth. At the second set of traffic lights, turn left onto Wilson Street. Follow Wilson St. to the fourth set of lights at Peter Street. Be aware that Peter St. runs to the right, and Foster St. to the left. The Perkin's Building is on your immediate right at the intersection.

From Ogdensburg, New York: Take Hwy 812 north to the Ogdensburg/Prescott bridge into Canada. Take route 16 to Hyw 401 west towards Kingston. Take exit 696 onto Hwy 29 and follow it north to Smiths Falls.  At Smiths Falls, go west on county road 43 into Perth. At the lights on Gore Street, turn right, then left onto Foster at the next set of lights. One block along Foster brings you to the intersection of Foster and Wilson, and the location of the Perkin's Building and Rosewood Studio. Be aware that when you cross Wilson, Foster St. becomes Peter St.

4. Where can I eat?

Perth has a wide variety of dining opportunities. You can walk to numerous restaurants within five minutes from the shop with a number of coffee shops and bakeries nearby for coffee and pastries. We can provide you with a list of local restaurants.

5. What hand tools should I bring?

Don't worry if you haven't got all of the tools listed under your course description, as we can provide a complete Student Kit for those starting out while they are here. If you do own tools on the list, please bring them along, in order that you will be sharpening, tuning and learning with your own equipment.
 

6. Where do I get wood for my course?

Many of our courses include all the required materials. For courses that require additional materials, we stock a variety of hardwoods for sale at market prices, or you may bring your own lumber. We ask only that material be clean and free of dirt, abrasive particles, finish, and fasteners before putting it through our machinery.

7. I am American - what do I need to cross the border into Canada?

Travel between Canada and the United States requires a valid passport. Processing of new US passport applications can sometimes take weeks. Please check the status of your existing passport, or make arrangements to initiate a new passport application at the earliest date possible.

8. I do not reside in North America – Do I require a Visa?

This answer will depend on your country of residence. Citizens of other countries should check their governments' policies and regulations. We would refer you to Citizenship & Immigration Canada at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp .

9. Do I require a Study Permit?
